ADDICTED TO RECOVERY
Like many others, my drinking narrative began as a social confidence boost evolving over twenty-five-years; to become a self-medicating escape from stressful situations and uncomfortable emotions. Progressively I no longer needed an excuse or an occasion to drink. Unwittingly my psychological crutch had re-wired and hijacked my brain chemistry, making my behaviour compulsive and biased. Drinking became a daily priority, my social boost had beguiled me and become an addiction. I eventually lost my autonomy, my dignity, my self-respect and finally my closest connections of love and meaning.
For years the fear of losing my so called ‘coping mechanism’ kept me stuck, making it impossible for me to move forward in my life. After one downward spiral too many I finally entered my local drug and alcohol service. Now with six years of recovery, I am happier than I believed possible, confident and at ease with myself, life feels simpler and freer.
HOW I CAN HELP
To feel socially confident, liberated from self-limiting cultural beliefs and rituals around drinking.
To maintain healthy coping and decision-making skills, replacing past subconscious automatic “go-to” drinking behaviour.
To put personal balance, structure and self-regulation back into your life.
To bring self-acceptance and closure to emotional and psychological fixations towards drinking.
To pinpoint and overcome inner tension and resistance to long term transformation.
To develop your self-belief and emotional resilience to live life on life’s terms with lasting fulfilment and peace of mind in your sobriety.
Whether you are transitioning from a residential programme, an outpatient detox, or have chosen your own route to sobriety; you can use my insights and experience as a sounding board to voice your hopes and fears, your “yes buts” and “what if’s .” With no judgement or instruction, only confidential support and encouragement.
I have created a relapse prevention model of self-growth and development which addresses cognitive, emotional and behavioural issues focused around creating a new life in recovery. Individually tailored around your needs with time managed accountability, to support you in meeting your short and long-term goals; moving you positively forward from where you are, to where you want to be.

"After 6 months of sobriety, I felt I had no direction and had lost my identity. I worked with Sarah, for 3 months. In this time, Sarah helped me to soul search. To find who I wanted to be, what I believed in and focus on my future destination. Her clever use of worksheets and guidance helped me to dig deep and positively set me on my way. Her support and guidance were invaluable. I highly recommend Sarah to anyone looking for a bespoke experience in their journey to recovery and self."
"I look forward to our sessions every week because its such a reassurance to know that I'm not alone and that other people are going through what I have gone through."
"I am a parent whose son has suffered for many years from alcohol addiction. He has really become very poorly and developed so many other problems. As parents we have followed so many paths in seeking help for our child. He has tried one thing after another, medical practitioners, therapy, counselling, so many avenues. None of these has met with success and his condition has deteriorated. The anguish that this has caused him, and all his close family is indescribable.
We found Sarah via the internet and decided to give it a try. During my initial phone call, which was not easy for me, Sarah was kind, understanding and encouraging. From the start Sarah has dedicated herself to helping him, she has spoken with him daily and listened and supported. She is really an exceptional coach, she has gone beyond what anybody would reasonably expect from a coach, taken the situation on board and given it every ounce of her time and skill in trying to help. Sarah is a huge support to our son, and at last we feel that there is real optimism for his eventual recovery. We thoroughly recommend Sarah to any parent or child who finds themselves in this tragic situation."
"Talking to Sarah was so easy. I recommend speaking to her if you are struggling or need some guidance in recovery."
" To anyone that's struggling with addiction - Sarah helped me so much . Lifted me over and above. She's met my family, my friends and changed my life. I can't thank her enough for her honesty and wonderful guidance."
"Sarah has extensive knowledge of addiction – both lived and scientific. I instantly felt at ease and knew I was in the right place to get help. We discussed my needs and identified areas of my life which were having negative effects. Sarah devised a plan with achievable goals. She furnished me with tools that allowed me to challenge my thought processes, knowing I had our weekly session to debrief. Gradually, I became more empowered and capable. I even began to socialise – something I never thought possible before! I cannot recommend her services enough, she has been instrumental in my recovery."
